Crafted Just for You

Smoke Show BBQ started the way all good BBQ stories do—in the backyard with friends, a little friendly competition, and a whole lot of smoke.

Jeff grew up in Texas—first around Fort Worth and Dallas, later in Austin, where smoked brisket and great BBQ sides were just a part of life. After moving to Los Angeles, he couldn’t shake the craving for real brisket. In 2015, his dad bought him a kettle grill. Using tricks from Meathead’s early Amazing Ribs days, he turned it into a smoker and got hooked.

Mike, a close friend from Orange County who swore by his tri-tip—California’s version of brisket—wasn’t far behind. What started as a friendly rivalry between Texas brisket and California tri-tip turned into a shared obsession. The two spent weekends smoking, experimenting, and serving up food for family and friends until word started to spread.

That backyard competition grew into Smoke Show BBQ, evolving from a kettle grill to a 500-gallon smoker, and eventually to a custom 1,000-gallon offset pit—the kind that separates the curious from the committed.

Today, Jeff and Mike bring that same spirit to every cook, but with elevated skill and scale. From neighbors to crowds of hundreds, they’ve mastered craft BBQ—sourcing Prime cuts, refining trims, managing the fire, and delivering consistent quality every time. You can taste the time, energy, and commitment in every slice of brisket.

Somewhere around hour eighteen, they like to remind themselves it’s craft with a C, not a K—because good BBQ takes time, fire, and a sense of humor.

When people ask how good it is, Mike keeps it simple: “It doesn’t suck.”
